Successful Rehomings

December 2009

Diesel

Diesel had spent many months in an all breed rescue centre and was due to be put to sleep as he had overstayed his allotted time.
I agreed to take him even though he was not a pure bred shiba. From his looks, he is part bull breed and he had a distrust of people, particularly men. I feared he would never be suitable for rehoming, but I was determined to see what could be done.

After a very short time here, Diesel endeared himself to the kennel staff and was particularly fond of a young lad who works here.
He never once showed any signs of aggression towards my other dogs, even when surrounded by in season bitches, and always remained happy and friendly and with staff and visitors alike, he crave affection and love.

He remained with me for over 12 months and I wondered if I would ever find the right home for him, but luck was on Diesel's side. A friend, who had spent some time working here in the summer, was looking for a dog as a companion and asked if she could take Diesel on trial.
I agreed as I knew she was experienced with dogs and could offer Diesel the guidance he needed.

"hey gill, just like to say that having diesel is by far one of the best things i have ever done, i love him to pieces and he loves me"

Hovis

Hovis has now moved in with a delightful family who already have a female shiba. Early reports are that he is settling in well and enjoying the company of another dog.

Humphrey

Humphrey came into rescue due to a marriage breakup. He was 14 yeqrs old and i doubted he would ever find a home at his age. However, I never gave up hope with him and always mentioned him to any prospective enquirer. After spending 12 months with me, Humphrey's luck changed. He was eagerly adopted by a wonderful couple who fell hook, line & sinker for him.

I am delighted to say that as of Christmas 2009 Humphrey is still enjoying life at the grand old age of 17.

Not all rehomings are shown here as it is sometimes possible to put prospective new owners directly in touch with owners of dogs needing a new home. This is often a better way to do it as there is less stress on the dog.
